Congratulations to Dr. Francesca Binacchi, Ester Giorgi and Dr. Giacomo Salvadori for the publication of the results of the SYSSi project funded by PRIMULE (PRomoting Innovative and MULtidisciplinary Experiments at DSCM). This project was part of the doctoral work of the three researchers and involved the study of the interaction of a fluorescent silver(I) biscarbene and different conformations of non-canonical DNA, G-quadruplex.
Congratulations to our Ph.D. student Alberto Picchi for his scientific publication entitled "Assessing the performance of sustainable luminescent solar concentrators based on chemically recycled poly(methyl methacrylate)" in RSC Applied Polymers. The study examines the viability of utilizing chemically recycled poly(methyl methacrylate) (r-PMMA) in luminescent solar concentrators (LSCs).
Congratulations to our PhD student Elisa Rossi for her recent "Hot Paper" publication entitled "Monomeric gold hydrides for carbon dioxide reduction: ligand effect on reactivity." The study explores the electronic effects of ligands on [LAu(I)H] (L=ligand) hydrides reacting with CO2 to form the formate anion. 20 different ligands, with varied electron properties, are examined through the work, including the only one that experimentally demonstrated reversible reaction with CO2.
Congratulations to our Ph.D. student Marco Rollo for his publication entitled "Preparation and Characterization of Zinc(II)-Based Lewis/Brønsted Acidic Deep Eutectic Solvents”. Four different zinc(II)-based LBDESs have been prepared mixing ZnCl2 and various Brønsted acids: acetic, glycolic, levulinic, and formic acids. Apart from the latter, for which the corresponding DES is not thermally stable, the samples have been characterized in terms of density, viscosity, and conductivity.
