During the summer, our PhD student Alessia Cinci had the opportunity to present her PhD project at two major scientific conferences: the International Conference on Hydrogenases and other Redox Metalloenzymes (ICH2026), held in Leicester, UK, and INORG51, the national conference of the Inorganic Chemistry Division of the Italian Chemical Society (SCI). At both conferences, Alessia delivered oral presentations focusing on her PhD research about non-classic biomimetic systems inspired by [FeFe]-hydrogenases for molecular hydrogen electrocatalysis.
Her work investigated neutral and cationic derivatives of dinuclear cyclopentadienyl complexes featuring bridging heterocarbyne ligands, with the aim of gaining new insights into their catalytic properties and their potential as hydrogen-evolution catalysts. The presentations highlighted the main results obtained during the first year of her PhD project, showing how these findings contribute new information beyond the previously established state of the art. The results also provided a basis for outlining future research directions and identifying new opportunities to expand the scope of the study. In addition, some of the first results on more classical structures were presented, opening further perspectives for comparison and investigation.
