Congratulations to our PhD students Serena Reale and Mariano De Cristofaro for their oral presentations at the prestigious ISC2026 (International Symposium on Chromatography) in Prague! Serena presented her talk titled "Combining GC-HRMS and GC×GC-HRMS for comprehensive analysis of breast skin volatiles during pregnancy". She showcased a novel, non-invasive workflow using thin-film microextraction to profile maternal body odors, opening exciting new perspectives in the study of motherinfant chemical communication.
Mariano delivered his presentation titled "DoE-Optimized Green MEPS-UHPLC-MS/MS platform with datadriven internal standard selection for targeted intact peptide profiling in saliva". He highlighted a fully automated, environmentally sustainable mass spectrometry platform for reliable peptide quantification in saliva. This approach paves the way for robust, non-invasive diagnostics in chronic kidney disease monitoring, overcoming the limitations of conventional immunoassays. A special thank you goes to the Analytical Chemistry Division of the Italian Chemical Society (SCI) for awarding both Serena and Mariano with grants that supported their congress registration.
