graphical abstract boniniCongratulations to our Ph.D. students Andrea Bonini, Federico Vivaldi and Noemi Poma for their scientific publication entitled “A graphenic biosensor for real-time monitoring of urea during dialysis”. This work proposed a new disposable urea biosensor based on urease immobilized on reduced graphene oxide, for the real-time monitoring of the urea concentration for patients that need dialysis or transplantation.

poma vivaldiCongratulations to our Ph.D. students Noemi Poma and Federico Vivaldi for their scientific publication entitled “Remote monitoring of seawater temperature and pH by low cost sensors”. Monitoring chemical and physical properties of seawater is important to assess the status and predict future changes of marine environment. pH and temperature are frequently measured since they directly affect chemical and biological systems.

biagini ventilatorOur Ph.D. candidate Denise Biagini, member of Prof. Di Francesco’s research group, actively participated in the experimental activities of the international research project “Milano Ventilatore Meccanico” (MVM).

course zinnaIn these weeks the online course of "Emission Spectroscopy" is being held by Dr. Francesco Zinna, a young researcher of our Department, for the students of the Doctoral School in Chemistry and Materials Science (DSCM) of the University of Pisa. During this short course, students will have the opportunity to learn the principles of fluorescence, some applicative examples of electroluminescence,
